Thomas Popplewell
Trainee Youth Worker
Thomas is one of our newest members of staff here at Patchwork, he is a trainee youth worker and currently doing evening sessions with youth people. However, like many of our staff he is no stranger to the norms of the organisation. Living in Scotswood, Thomas attended Patchwork from a young age with his friendship group. They planned and took part in many different activities including their DofE Bronze, Silver and working towards his gold. Therefore, when Thomas came back to the project having had a few years out, his enthusiasm and willingness to commit to volunteering made him perfect to develop into a trainee role.
A few months on, Thomas has enrolled and begun his level 3 youth work, has been part of a group who ventured to the French Alps, Edinburgh and took young people all over the northeast. He is in the early stages of his development but has already built great relationships in Benwell, trustworthiness and reliability make for a good youth worker. Thomas brings with him an experience of other working environments and a hobby of photos, videography and ice-skating.
Thomas is at the beginning of his journey but is really excited about pursuing a career in youth work. The project will support him through his Level 3 and possibly through his degree.
