Kieron Collard

Alumni

Kieron was in a group with Elliot and was also volunteering as lockdown occurred. He too supported children and young people through those difficult times and with the grief process. He too was employed through a partnership with Northbourne initiative and spent time at that project. Living on the terraces, a keen footballer and lots of fun, Kieron is well known in Benwell. He found relationships easy to establish. Advocacy came surprisingly easily and as he grew in confidence he represented himself and young people within ‘Streetgames’ organisation, the local city council ‘youth panel’ and in meetings with local councillors.

Kieron achieved his L2 in youthwork, but ultimately found youthwork was not for him. Youthwork is a demanding as well as rewarding job and if he did decide to return he has that qualification in his back pocket.

He has returned to his job at McDonalds with new vigour and has achieved promotion in that workplace with more success pending. We are proud of his achievements and his role in encouraging young people into work.
