Elliott Baird

Alumni

Elliott was volunteering at Patchwork when COVID-19 occurred and then Michael died. He offered unwavering support throughout this time. As a local Scotswood lad he was able to work ‘in bubbles’ to support the most vulnerable members of the community. He knew Patchwork as a group member and understood our approach. Coming from a faith based background he already had reflective skills and a desire to support those around him, whilst his fun and jovial attitude built strong relationships with the youth.

After lockdown, a partnership between Patchwork and Northbourne Youth Initiative secured his traineeship and meant he spent time at both projects. He made such a big impression that once he passed his L3 in youthwork they offered him a job there.

We are incredibly proud that Elliott began his youthwork journey with us, and that he continues to excel in his new role at Northbourne. Contributing to the development of an ever wide group of children and young people from the local neighbourhood. He is now driving and continues to be a role model for local young people.
