We are deeply sorry to inform you of the sad news of the death of Patchwork Project Manager, Michael “Patchy” Bell. Michael was an integral part of our team and worked at Patchwork for over 15 years and was a much beloved member of the community. It is a massive shock and loss to the project.
The best tribute to Michael from Patchwork is continuing our work through this tough time, so we’re doing just that. However we will be pausing to honour Michael at his funeral soon. You can find the details below.
Funeral Details
Date and Time: Wednesday 25th August at 2:45pm
Location: Sunderland Crematorium, Chester Road, Sunderland, SR4 7RS (view on Maps).

Details: All are welcome. There will be 100 people allowed inside and there will be speakers placed outside. The family have requested that only family flowers are allowed, and that all donations go to Patchwork via our donate page or via collection on the day.
There will be no dress code, although flowery shirts and strange hats were Michael’s thing so we encourage all those who are attending to wear something colourful or “out there”.
Wake Details
The wake will be held on the same day as the funeral after the service.

Regarding Donations
As noted, the family have requested that all donations go to Patchwork. There will be a collection at the funeral, but if you want you can donate online via our donate page. If you are donating online please use Gift Aid if you can, as we get an extra 20% from the tax man at no cost to you and it all adds up!
Finally, a regular donation of whatever people can afford per month would be greatly appreciated. Even £1 or £2 is more beneficial to Patchwork than a one-off donation as it will help us to keep the project going into the future.
